The Foundation NME Mundial is interested in extending Environmental Education throughout the world, with a focus on Latin America.

The objective of the Foundation NME Mundial is to realize a network of educational projects that focus on environmental topics while also supporting a cultural exchange between Latin American and the donor countries (mainly the Netherlands).

NME Mundial’s mission is to improve the quality of environmental education and awareness. NME Mundial’s current priority is the realization of an urban agriculture program at elementary schools that concentrates on the cultivation of small urban spaces. This program is comprised of a practical and theoretical component. Classroom instruction, which includes a number of experiments, is supplemented with hands-on experience working in the school gardens. NME Mundial hopes that this knowledge will empower and motivate the students to cultivate crops at home. To further encourage this objective NME Mundial donates a variety of seeds to the participating students.

The Foundation NME Mundial was created the 2nd of april 2008 to address the demand that surged during the execution of the project: School gardens in the “Zona Sur” of Cochabamba. The project team “Huertos Educativos Cochabamba” administered this successful educational garden project in four schools in Cochabamba from August 2006 until November 2007.

NME Mundial was established to assure a sustainable future for all potential and participating schools. The foundation’s primary focus is environmental education and conservation on a world-wide scale, with a special focus on Latin America and the donor countries (mainly the Netherlands) of the projects.

The goal of the current project is the development of school gardens in the “Zona Sur” of Cochabamba where the students learn how to cultivate vegetables and sustain a garden. During the school year we set up a school garden with material and technical support of the foundation, which the school can maintain for the following years with the support of our school garden manual.

NME Mundial’s primary influence is currently focused on Bolivia and The Netherlands. The foundation has the ambition to expand their reach to other Latin American countries and besides the Netherlands other donor countries.

The primary targets of the present garden project are the students of the participating schools. In the future, all interested persons in the area will be encouraged to participate and support NME Mundial’s projects.
